Our Work

What do we do at Thalia?

Thalia Theatre Company works with disabled people to help them develop their personal & social skills, basic skills (numeracy & literacy) communication, confidence, self esteem and improve their physical and mental health. We believe the arts are a stimulating way of learning and that everyone is able to develop and grow their skills and talents to help them work towards independence, volunteering and employment opportunities.

As part of our work we have a Community Outreach Programme where we take our company members into the community to share our skills and to educate people about disability. We run workshops for all kinds of people and organisations, not just disabled people. We also put together our ideas and create some wonderful, exciting theatre that shows non disabled people that we are all equal and we can all achieve great things!

We have one major annual performance at Norwich Playhouse Theatre. Our performances are an important element of our work and aim to demonstrate to our audience the talents and skills of Thalia members as emerging artists and practitioners. See reviews of our performances here.

Throughout the year we take part in festivals and other events and work in collaboration with other arts organisations and professional artists as well as working to develop our own skills.
